Helping you to be a better photographer
The Tour
If you’ve ever wanted to photograph the Northern Dolomites but weren’t sure where to start, or if you’ve already been and would like to go back with a focus [sic] on photographing some of the best spots with a group of fellow photographers, then we might have just the thing for you.
From 11th-18th October 2025 Mike Page and Matthias Tannert will be running a guided photography tour from Bozen to Cortina, aiming to take in a number of established locations as well as sharing a few of our own. Scheduling the tour so late in the year should maximise the chances of finding peak autumn colours, at the risk of encountering bad weather.
Accomodation
We will be staying in a mix of hotels and hostels (Rifugios), starting at Alpe di Susi (Seiser Alm) and working our way eastwards via Seceda (Rifugio Fermeda) and Croda da Lago (Rifugio of the same name) towards Cortina in the north-eastern Dolomites where we will spend the last few nights at Hotel Passo Tre Croci. We have reservations for 8 people (including ourselves).
Locations
-
Seiser Alm/Alpe di Siusi
-
Seceda Ridge
-
Lago da Croda/Federa See
-
4 days Cortina (Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Lago d’Antorno, Lago Misurina, Sorapis, Cinque Torri, Passo Falzarego, Passo di Giau…)
Transport
We will be renting a minibus that will pick up from Munich Airport early in the morning of the 11th October before driving down to Kastelruth. If you arrive in Munich before the 11th, we can offer limited private accommodation for the night of the 10th and likewise for the night of the 18th on our return.
Costs
The cost for the trip is €1,800 per head (approx. £1520 as of January 2025). This covers transport from Munich airport and accommodation (all of which will be half-board).
Not included: lunches and drinks.
What to Bring
We'll be travelling between locations with a minibus and staying in hotels or mountain huts (Rifugio). On the nights in the Rifugios we will take a single change of clothes and leave the rest in the bus.
You'll need to bring your photography gear (try to pack relatively light, restrict to two, maximum three lenses if you can), mountain gear including mountain boots, waterproofs and cold weather gear, sleeping gear and a sheet sleeping bag for the huts (let Mike know if you can't source one, he can get them in Germany for around €20).
We will normally be able to charge batteries at night, but assume that we'll only be able to fully recharge every second day or so. If this means you need a power bank, please bring one.
Regarding appropriate clothing; I've hiked these spots in October in shorts and a t-shirt and in 2024 they had a metre of snow in September. Bottom line - we'll keep an eye on conditions in the weeks leading up to the tour and advise you as best we can.
What to Think About in Advance
International health insurance, camera insurance, valid passport, allergies and other dietary requirements (let us know),...
What to Expect
Early morning and sunset shoots (maybe even a bit of astro'), comfortable accommodation with shared rooms, epic views and great fun with a group of 8 like-minded people. Some days will involve moderate hikes; we’re planning for a maximum of 5 h, but this will be at around 2,000 m (6,000’), so please be aware that if you live near sea level, this could be quite a challenge, especially for the first few days.
Matthias and Mike are both familiar with the spots we'll be shooting at and have a solid understanding concerning which conditions suit which scenes. We're also both experienced mountaineers and familiar with the area. Whilst we don't want to downplay any experience you may have on your own turf, please listen to us when we make safety calls during the tour.
We are planning this as a guided tour, we’ll visit the locations together and you can shoot to your heart’s content. If desired, either of us can offer some guidance and advice on how to get stunning photos from the tour, but this is not primarily a workshop with tuition. That said there will be time for daily briefings and debriefings, maybe even for some cc sessions.
Your Workshop Leaders
Mike (British 57, living in Germany ) and Matthias (German 41, living in Switzerland) first started shooting together in 2020 after they discovered a shared passion for photography via Facebook. Since then, we have got together at least once a year to explore new areas and push each others’ photography skills to the limit.

How to Book
Please email mike@page4page.de with the subject Dolomites2025 indicating that you would like to come.
